內容試閱
With increasing large-scale pedestrian activities such as the
Olympic Games, Hajj and Music Parades, there is an urgent
need to improve crowd management methods and design safety evacuation
procedures. To this end, efficient evaluation methods and tools based on the studies of
pedestrian and evacuation dynamics are of critical importance. Thus in the past
decades, more and more researchers from difflerent research fields have been
devoting to deepening our understanding of pedestrian and evacuation dynamics.
They brought new ideas and promoted the research developments such as crowd
analysis in video suryeillance, model establishment and theory.
PED-conferences aim to present the latest research progress in
pedestrian evacuation and offer a platform for researchers who are interested
in crowd management to discuss and share knowledge. Previous seven conferences
have been successfully held in Duisburg, Germany 2001, Greenwich, UK 2003, Vienna, Austria
2005, Wuppertal,Germany 2008, Gaithersburg, USA 2010, Zurich, Switzerland 2012 and Delft, the Netherlands
2014. The eighth International Conference on-Pedestrian and Evacuation
Dynamics PED 2016 was held at University of Science and Technology of China
USTC in Hefei, China on October 17-21, 2016. PED 2016
Conference covers a broad range of topics related to field survey, controlled
experiments, model development, simulation, calibration and validation, theory and
measurement.
More than ninety papers were accepted to present at this year''s PED
conference. These papers are from Germany, the United Kingdom, the
Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain,.ltaly, Austria, Czech.Republic, the Russian Federation, Denmark, America, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Australia, China, Japan, etc. The
innovations in the related topics are impressive. Besides controlled
experiments, field survey also becomes popular to supply realistic and
practically applicable data. Moreover, there are increasing
models combined with empirical results in order to simulate more believable
pedestrian movement.
